I've always loved the non-technical challenges of photography. Find the subject! Choose the best angle for light and drama! Frame the shot! Wait for the moment --that smile, that gesture... Snap! 

While I’d prefer to see professionals take the shots -- Ken Franckling taking a jazz portrait or my wife Jo Shields framing an Italian countryside -- exegencies of time, place, and budget often make it imperative to pocket my camera and take my best shot.

Thus my portfolio, modest in both size and quality, contains portrait and performance shots of musicians that have appeared in Downbeat, as well as a recent series of wine personalities in Beverage Business.
